    Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s what goes into a classic Cajun Cowboy Butter :

    • 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and lemon zest
    • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (or more if you like it spicy)
    • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
    • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
    • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
    • 1 tablespoon fresh chives (optional)
    • Salt and black pepper, to taste

    Preparations:

Heat the butter in a small saucepan or in a bowl in the microwave till smooth. If you are melting the butter in a saucepan pan be careful, you need to melt the butter, don’t overcook or overbrown the butter.

    • Add the garlic and allow it to slowly cook in the warm butter for about 30 seconds to add flavor and aromatics.
    • Add Lemon juice, mustard, and the Cajun seasoning. Add pepper, salt, cayenne, and paprika.
    • Add the herbs (Parsley and chives) to give it a fresh and vibrant color.
    • Taste and adjust. You can add more lemon in case you want it more zesty. In case you are in need of additional spiciness, insert more cayenne.
    • Serve warm. You may pour it over steak, or dip shrimp in it, or brush it over grilled vegetables.

Pro tip: When you want to create a compound butter, allow the mixture to cool down, and then keep it refrigerated until it is solid. Cut and place it on hot food to melt perfectly.
